How to use this tool

This tool gives you a realistic monthly data estimate so you can see whether your plan has room to spare. It adds up the big users — video streaming, video calls, and general browsing — and shows the total in gigabytes.

Rough figures it uses

  • Standard video (e.g. YouTube, TV): ~1.5 GB per hour.
  • High-quality video (e.g. 4K streaming): ~7 GB per hour.
  • Video calls: ~0.5 GB per hour (roughly double for video + audio).
  • General web browsing: ~0.1 GB per hour.

These are estimates for a single device — a household with several people and devices will use more.

What to do with the number

Compare your estimate to your plan's monthly allowance. If you're close to the cap and you've got more people or devices, you'll hit it. If you're nowhere near, a smaller (cheaper) plan may be fine.

Real usage varies with quality settings, multiple devices, background updates and app data. Use this as a guide, not an exact meter.
